MultiVersus Shuts Down as of May 30, 2025 – Developer Player First Games Closes
May 30, 2025 — MultiVersus, the popular crossover fighting game featuring iconic characters from various universes, has officially shut down its online services as of today.
Players can no longer access online matches. However, those who logged in between February 4 and May 30, 2025, will still be able to enjoy limited local play for a short time.
The game has also been removed from all digital storefronts, including the PlayStation Store, Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store, making it no longer available for new players to purchase.
MultiVersus had reached its fifth season, which turned out to be the game’s final update before the shutdown was announced.
The developer behind the game, Player First Games, has been officially closed, along with other WB-owned studios such as WB Games San Diego and Monolith. These closures come as part of a broader internal restructuring at Warner Bros.
Despite a strong start during its Alpha launch in 2022, MultiVersus quickly lost its player base. The full release in May 2024 failed to recapture the early momentum, ultimately leading to the game’s end.
